Meet Me

Who the heck is Coach Tonya? ;)

My Up-line, Susan Williams, calls me "the fitness Nazi"...and I suppose on most days she is right.

I LOVE fitness! I LOVE helping other people get healthy! I LOVE documenting the journey through scrapbooks and helping others document their journey too! I absolutely LOVE lifting weights. I LOVE obstacle course racing. I enjoy 5k's, 13.1 and once in a while I attempt the full 26.2 runs. I enjoy a lot of different fitness programs. I have a little experience in several different programs.

I have ran several 5k's, approximately 10 or so 1/2 marathons and 2 full marathons. I have done 3 obstacle course races; Mad Monk and Spartan. I have done a Color Run and a Zombie run. I have completed a Sprint Triathlon. Lastly, I competed in a competition called The Ultra Eagle - that thing kicked my boo-tay!

Competing in these event makes me feel alive and it always tests my abilities. Every time I compete be it race or other - I find myself inspired by someone else along the way and I think to myself "I better keep doing this, just in case someone on the course someday looks over at me and feels inspired to continue." You never know who is watching or who you might be inspiring. It is my goal to have fun, inspire and encourage others.

The pay off isn't bad either! It keeps me in shape - so my clothes fit and I feel cute AND most of all it keeps me healthy so I can stick around and annoy my family by being the paparazzi they know and love. Somebody has to document our history, right?

SOOOOOOOOOO.... WHY is this fitness Nazi selling Close To My Heart?

Because I've been scrapbooking far longer than I've been the fitness Nazi. Because as I said I love documenting our history, the journeys we embark on and the changes we make in our lives. I love being creative. I love making pretty things with paper. I love watching my children flip through their albums. I love knowing that someday when I'm gone and they open those albums up - they'll see a life lived to the fullest and be proud of me.

I once asked my son what I do that makes him proud of me. His answer was, "When you run marathons". I'll never forget that as long as I live. It pushes and drives me forward and I hope to always make my children proud of me. I hope to be MORE than "just" a stay-at-home Mom to them. There is nothing wrong with being a stay-at-home Mom, don't get me wrong I love being here for them, but sometimes I wonder if I'm doing enough to leave a lasting impression on them. When I workout, when I race or compete I feel I'm impacting them more, like I'm making a difference in the most important lives I could ever touch.
